Honorable Mr. Suh-Yong Chung, Director of Center for Climate and Sustainable Development Law and Policy (CSDLAP) paid a visit to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in the Republic of Korea and met His Excellency Abdul Hakim Atarud, Ambassador of Afghanistan in Seoul. During the meeting two sides have discussed the issue of Climate Change and need for legal ground to adverse impact of environmental issues in the developing countries.

Ambassador Atarud highlighted the importance of joint collaboration toward this global phenomenon and challenge and pursued the possibility of cooperation between CSDLAP and environmental protection agencies of Afghanistan.

Today 26 February 2019, Ambassador Atarud met with honorable Mr. Kim Kibyoung, Director of Global e-Government Division of the Ministry of Interior and Safety (MOIS) of the Republic of Korea, range of issues regarding the e-Government has been discussed during the meeting. Ambassador Atarud briefed the Korean side on recent development in e-sector in Afghanistan and commitment of the leadership of country on providing better, fast and convenient service to its citizens through e-Government.

The Afghan side emphasized, considering the fact that Afghan-Korea are using the same platform of e-service and the Republic of Korea is one of the leading nations in e-governance and the Ministry of Interior and Safety has joint collaboration in this regard with couple of countries, the Embassy would like to facilitate to include Afghanistan in roaster of international cooperation of MOIS possibly through signing MoU.

WTCPA

On 07 Jan 2019 Afghanistan Ambassador Abdul Hakim Atarud, met with Ms. Hye-Ran Cho, President of World Traditional Culture Play Association (WTCPA). During the meeting Ambassador Atarud stressed on the importance of understanding different culture through festivities and others means, history of Afghanistan as a crossroad of different civilization, culture, sports, customs and other values of Afghan society. Two sides agreed to pave the way for further collaboration to present Afghan culture and plays to Korean People.

"World Traditional Culture and Play Association was established for the dissemination and succession of the forgotten traditional culture."

Meeting with WeGo

On 18 Feb. 2019 Afghan Ambassador Abdul Hakim Atarud and Honorable Mr. Kyong-yul Lee, Secretary General of WeGo (World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization) had a meeting at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Seoul. Two sides had productive discussion regarding fourth industrial revolution and smart cities.

Ambassador Atarud emphasized on the issue development and necessities for creation of smart cities and collaboration among these cities. They had fruitful talk on possibility of obtaining knowledge of urban development of Korea in urban planning of Afghanistan especially the Kabul City.

On 21 January 2019, Abdul Hakim Atarud, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the Republic of Korea today met with honorable Mr. Suh, Chang Suk, (M.D., Ph D.) the President and CEO of Seoul National University Hospital. Afghan Ambassador briefed the president of SNUH on current situation of health sector in Afghanistan and needs for utilization of advance medical technology in patients treatments in the country.

Ambassador Atarud also requested for the cooperation of SNUH in biomedical engineering, visiting doctors, exchange of knowledge and expertise and treatment of cancer patients under the firm work of a MoU with Afghanistan.

The SNUH (hospital) is one of the top universities hospital in the Republic of Korea in providing health care to the general public.

On 21 Jan 2019. Ambassador Atarud met with Ms. KIM Eun Sil, Representative of World Masters Committee, over the meeting both side discussed the importance of culture ties between the nations and candidature of Afghan artists for the next terms WMC membership. Ambassador Atarud shared his knowledge and experience in organizing Embassy’s event for the Korean public which welcomed and noted by WMC.

“World Masters Committee is International culture NGO for world culture exchange, selects World Masters who representing the culture of their home countries from over the world, wishes World will be more harmonious, understand each other better with a hope to prepare opportunities that all world-wide people and the countries understand and co-operate each other… “

UNPOG in Korea

On 26 December 2018, Ambassador Ataurd paid a visit to UNPOG office in Sengdo City of Incheon and met with head of UNPOG in Korea, during this meeting Ambassador rquested for the assistances of this institution in providing training programs in e-governance and sharing knowledge and experience program with civil servants institute of Afghanistan.

"The United Nations Project Office on Governance (UNPOG) is a subsidiary office of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) under the auspices of its Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG). Its principal mission is to strengthen the public governance capacities of developing Member States in Asia and the Pacific and beyond to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development."

Ambassador Atarud met with Honorable Im, Tobin, Dean of Graduate School of International Studies of Seoul National Unviersity.

"Founded in 1946, Seoul National University is considered to be the most prestigious university in the country. The university has three campuses: the main campus in Gwanak and two additional campuses in Daehangno and Pyeongchang. The university comprises sixteen colleges, one graduate school and nine professional schools."

 

 

Ambassador Atarud had meeting with Mr. YIM Tae- Hee, the President and Mr. Sang- Tae Kim, Dean of Hankyung University. Amb. Atarud expressed his appreciations for accepting Afghan students to continue their Education in this school and requested support of the leadership of this University for opening door of collaboration with Afghanistan Universities through MoUs and school sisterhood platform.

On 19 December 2018 Ambassador Atarud met with Dean of Public Policy School of Seoul National Unviersity. during the meeting Ambassador Atarud requested the SNU to provide scholarship and fellowship for Afghan students and lecturers and possibly sign a MOU with Kabul Public Policy faculty.
