Ambassador Abdul Hakim Atarud attended a reception hosted by H.E. President Moon Jae-in and the First Lady of the Republic of Korea for the diplomatic corps.
During the greeting Ambassador Atarud conveyed President Ghani’s appreciation for the continued support of the Republic of Korea for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the country and mentioned the near future visit of Afghanistan President to Seoul.
Ambassador Abdul Hakim Atarud met with honorable Mr. Song Young Gil, Member of the National Assembly, Chairman of the Special Committee of Peace and Cooperation in Northeast Asia of the Republic of Korea.
During the meeting, the Afghan Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the support of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea on the assistance provided to Afghanistan, requested for facilitating the visit of Parliament members of Afghanistan to the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea and formation of friendship committee between the two institutions.
Today Ambassador Abdul Hakim Atarud had a fruitful meeting with Mr. Kyong-yul Lee, Secretary-General of WeGo and discussed the way forward for facilitating the study visits of Afghanistan construction engineers to Korea Smart cities.
His Excellency Eric Teo, Ambassador of Singapore to the Republic of Korea paid a courtesy call to Ambassador Abdul Hakim Atarud. Two sides discussed the issues of common interest and the relations between the two Embassies.
Ambassador Abdul Hakim Atarud had a fruitful meeting with Ms. Hwang, DeuBora, the Chairwoman of Volunteer Fire Department Alliance and Mr. Her Moung Goan, the Secretary-General of Korea Federation of fire Association. He discussed the possibility of collaboration between the Fire Departments of Afghanistan and Korea as well as providing firefighting equipment and providing training to the National Fire Agency of Afghanistan.
To meet the needs of the brave firefighters, the Korean Federation of Fire Association will provide numbers of firefighting trucks and ambulances to Afghanistan.
Ambassador Abdul Hakim Atarud met with Mr. Choo Moojin, President of the Korean Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH). Training of Afghan doctors and nurses, signing of MoU between Health Associations of Afghanistan and Korea, providing medical equipment for Afghanistan hospitals and assistance for treatment of cancer patients have been discussed during the meeting.

At the sideline of Asia Pacific Forestry Week 2019, Ambassador Abdul Hakim Atarud met with Mr. Park, Chong-ho, Deputy Minister of Korea Forest Service (KFS) to discuss concerning the membership of Afghanistan in Asian Forest Cooperation Organization (AFoCO) and establishing a platform of cooperation with KFS for sharing experience and providing training to the Ministry of Agriculture Irrigation and Livestock of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
Ambassador Ataud had a courtesy meeting with Mr. Kwangho KIM, Secretary-General of Korean National Commission for UNESCO and his team.
Range of issues such as cultural collaboration,
archeology excavation, the possibility of sharing the knowledge for saving the cultural heritages located in Afghanistan and training of archeologists discussed during the meeting.
The Korean National Commission for UNESCO is an independent entity that works in the fields of Education, Science, Culture, Communication, and Youth in the ROK.
Ambassador Abdul Hakim Atarud had a meeting with Mr. Song Sang-hyun, President of Korean Committee for UNICEF. Over the meeting, the Afghan Ambassador requested for assistance to the Afghan students in need of stationery and equipment for the newly opened schools.
After the outbreak of war in the Korean peninsula, the UNICEF provided assistance to South Korean children for about 43 years. In 1994, the South Korean Committee for UNICEF was established. Now the country is a major donor to UNICEF after the US and Japan.
