Ambassador Abdul Hakim Atarud today met with Mr. Kang, Myung-Soo Standing Commissioner of Korea Trade Commission, discussing range of mutual interest issues such as facilitating business trips to Afghan business community for explore the trade opportunities in Korea, engagement of Korean investors in the mining sector of Afghanistan especially talc and exports of Afghanistan dried fruits and Safran to Korea.

Ambassador Abdul Hakim Atarud paid a visit to Development Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea and met Ms. OH Hyunjoo, Director General of the division to discuss the prospect of Korean ODA to Afghanistan and support of Biomedical and Vocational training centers in Afghanistan.

The NDN News, Seoul City Magazine and The Korea Culture Ambassador Friendship Association have decided to confer International Friendship Ambassador Award to Mr. Abdul Hakim ATARUD, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the Republic of Korea in recognition his excellent activities as Afghanistan top envoy in Korea. The award is to compliment Afghan Ambassador on his activities which include his great contribution for paving the way to enlarge diplomatic relations’ horizon between Korea and Afghanistan in terms of his recent brisk of diplomatic activities including many courtesy calls to the Seoul Diplomatic Corps., as well as participation in regional trip programs to narrow understanding gaps between the two countries.

Ambassadors of France, Sera Leon, El Salvador and CEO of top Korean Companies were also among the recipient of this award.

Ambassador Abdul Hakim Atarud met with honorable Mr. KIM Junghan, Director-General of Asian and Pacific Affairs Bureau of Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Korea and discussed a range of mutually interest issues e.g. Political Consultations, HR capacity programs and increase in educational scholarships quota for Afghans.

Ambassador Abdul Hakim Atarud met with His Excellency Kim Young-chae, Special Representative of the Republic of Korea for Afghanistan and Pakistan and discussed the current situation in the country and bilateral issues. On behalf of the Korean Government, Ambassador Kim extended his condolences on the recent terrorist and horrific attack in Kabul. Korea will continue to participate in the effort of stopping the terrorism along with international society, and actively support Afghanistan’s effort to establish peace.

 

 

To commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Restoration of Independence of Afghanistan, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Seoul hosted a reception on August 22nd at the Lotte Hotel in Seoul City, Representative of the Government of the Republic of Korea, Honorable Schah Zaman Miwandi Head of National Environmental Protection Agency of Afghanistan, officials from the Foreign Ministry of Korea, over thirty-five Ambassadors, members of diplomatic corps, Afghan students, Afghan community residing in Korea, representative of Korean companies and Institutions attended the reception.

During his welcoming remarks Ambassador Atarud highlighted the scarifies of Afghans on the restoration of independence of Afghanistan, its importance, reforms process of King Amanullah Khan after declaration of independence, he said “based on the 1922 constitution of Afghanistan, Human Rights and freedom were strongly respected by the authority, forced labor, torture, and slavery were prohibited”. He mentioned the mandate of King for a modern Afghanistan by concentrating on education to Afghan youths and children. In terms bilateral relations between Afghanistan and Korea, Ambassador Atarud said: “We remain grateful to the Republic of Korea for providing development assistance to Afghanistan and I would like to take this opportunity to offer my sincere appreciation to the Government and people of the Republic of Korea”. He also mentioned that “The Government and people of Afghanistan have been always supporting peace initiatives in the Korean Peninsula and hoping for everlasting peace and security of this peninsula”.

In a congratulatory remark His Excellency Yoon Yeon Chul, Ambassador for Climate Change MOFA ROK, besides congratulating on this occasion offered his condolences on the recent terrorist attack in Kabul and reconfirmed the commitment of the Republic of Korea for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Afghanistan and fighting against terrorism and extremism.

Honorable Mr. Schah Zaman Maiwandi, Head of the National Environmental Agency of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, during his congratulatory remarks, appreciated for the assistance of the Republic of Korea in the environmental sector of Afghanistan and requested for continued collaboration between the two nations.

Today 25 June 2019, His Excellency Abdul Hakim Atarud Ambassador of Afghanistan had a meeting with Mr. Jin, Ok-Sub, President of Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation (CHF) to obtain the pillar this institution to further enhance the cultural ties between Afghanistan and Korea. Meanwhile Afghan Ambassador discussed the possibility exchange of knowledge and experience through signing a MOU for cultural cooperations.

"Korea Cultural Heritage is established in 1980 for the preservation and transmission of the traditional culture in a creative way.
By believing the traditional culture are the basis for the cultural competitiveness; we operate various businesses: traditional ceremonies, traditional art, traditional cuisine, performances, exhibitions, traditional cultural experiences, education and publication, cultural tourism products, traditional wedding ceremonies, excavation and survey of cultural properties, etc."

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan had the honor of receiving Professor Dr. Mohammed Qasim Hashimzai, President and Mr. Muttaqi, Commissioner of the Independent Commission for Overseeing the Implementation of Constitution of Afghanistan.

In the meeting, current and prospect of relationship of ICOIC with Constitution Court of the Republic of Korea and other Asian countries was the topic of discussion.

Dr. Hashimzai was in a four days official trip to Seoul attending an international symposium.

On 13 June 2019 Ambassador Abdul Hakim Atarud met with the Mr. Jinhwan Moon Director of international collaboration of Sejong University and discussed the possibility of academic relations between Afghan Universities and the Sejong institution as well as scholarship and fellowship for Afghanistan.

Its a great honor to announce that today the Kabul University has officially become the member of Silkroad Universities Network (SUN). Thanks to the leadership of Kabul University and Secretary General of SUN.

The Kabul University by joining this network opens doors of academic collaboration with prominent institutions of member states in the field of research, exchange of information, technology and student affairs.
